About Me
Tanaya Winder (pronouns: she/hers) is CLF’s Associate Communications Director. Tanaya comes from an intertribal lineage of Southern Ute, Pyramid Lake Paiute, and Duckwater Shoshone Nations where she is an enrolled citizen. Before joining Conservation Lands Foundation, Winder served as the Director of the University of Colorado Boulder's Upward Bound program for 11 years where she worked with Indigenous youth from low-income, first generation backgrounds.
Tanaya holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Stanford University and a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of New Mexico. She is a 2016 National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development “40 Under 40” emerging American Indian leaders recipient. Tanaya believes in protecting sacred spaces and believes that everyone has a gift they’ve been placed on this earth to share. Her passions include youth & women empowerment, healing trauma through art, and mental wellness advocacy.
Tanaya is a member of Colorado’s Suicide Prevention Commission and serves as a board member for Youth Celebrate Diversity and InteRoots. During her free time, you’ll find Tanaya writing poetry and crafting songs with her acoustic guitar.
