This week, President Trump signed off on one of the largest rollbacks of protected public lands in Utah history. Flanked by Governor Cox and Utah's federal delegation — Senators Lee and Curtis, and Representatives Maloy, Kennedy, Moore, and Owens — he gutted a combined three million acres of protections for Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments, more than 90% of their protected areas.

We know you're upset. We are too. Now it's time to make some noise.

Join us and our partners on Monday, July 20 for a Monumental Statewide Day of Action. Bring a friend, bring a sign (we'll have extras), and let's make sure Utah's politicians hear us loud and clear.

  • Ogden, 5:00-7:00 pm at Rep. Blake Moore’s Office, 324 25th St.
  • Salt Lake City, 6:00-7:00 pm at the Governor’s Mansion, 603 E. South Temple St.
  • Provo, 5:00-6:00 pm at the offices of Sen. Curtis and Rep. Kennedy, 3601 N. University Ave, Suite 250
  • St. George, 6:00-7:00 pm at the offices of Sen. Lee and Rep. Maloy, 111 E. Tabernacle St, Suite 324
  • Moab, 6:00-7:00 pm. Meet at the Moab Information Center, 25 E. Center Street

In moments like this, it’s easy to feel despair, and we understand why. There are many hard days and hard fights ahead—more weeks and months that will test our resolve to do the difficult work that can feel like one step forward, two steps back. As
Terry Tempest Williams once said, “It is a privilege to live in the beauty of this red rock desert. And no matter how discouraged I get over today’s politics, the erosional landscape before me reminds me of the Earth’s healing grace and what endures if we choose to protect “the open space of democracy.”

Like you, we’re in this for the long haul. We can continue our proven track record of successfully defending public lands against long odds by speaking up loud and often.

We hope to see you on Monday. In the meantime, use
our action tool to easily sign your name in opposition to the administration’s rollbacks and contact your members of Congress, urging them to do the same.
