News reports indicate President Trump plans to roll back protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monument

We learned on Friday from Utah media outlets via administration sources that President Trump plans to gut protections for both Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments.

He is expected to sign an Executive Order relating to these monuments at 4:30pm ET today at the White House. This action is illegal as the Antiquities Act of 1906 grants the President the power to designate National Monuments on behalf of the American people and that action cannot be undone with the stroke of a pen: only Congress has that power, through legislation.
