Utah Din Bikyah
About Utah Din Bikyah
Utah Diné Bikéyah (UDB) established itself in 2011 as a first of its kind Native American organization focused on safeguarding cultural resources and protecting the ecological integrity of ancestral, public lands in southeastern Utah. UDB has a ten person, all-Native Board of Directors (Navajo and Ute), holds a Memorandum of Agreement with the Navajo Nation and Bureau of Land Management, and aims to establish itself as a leader among conservation organizations. UDB’s primary objective over the next fourteen months is to achieve designation for the two million acre Bears Ears region as a National Monument. Following Bears Ears designation, UDB will engage in the long-term stewardship of this cultural landscape by developing the capacity of local community leaders who will work as active partners with state and federal agencies, Tribes, and other non-profit organizations to improve on-the-ground public land management.
