About Rachel Frederico
Rachel Frederico, a member of the Cherokee Nation, moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Durango in 2004 to attend Fort Lewis College, where she earned a B.A. in Communications and Marketing. After graduating, she began working at her alma mater where she served as the Development Director for KDUR, the college radio station and later as the Director of Alumni Engagement.
Rachel brings years of experience in event planning, relationship building, multimedia marketing, fundraising, and project management to her role at Conservation Lands Foundation. As an outdoor enthusiast with strong ties to the Durango community, Rachel’s passion for public lands runs deep. For her and her family—as recreators, hunters, and lovers of wild spaces—public lands are vital.
Rachel considers her role at CLF to be “heart work,” reflecting her commitment to protecting landscapes that support wildlife and cultural history while offering endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, rafting, live music, silversmithing, paddleboarding, reading, camping with her husband and daughter in their restored VW van, or most any activity that allows her time to laugh with friends and family.
