About Laura Daniel Davis
Laura Daniel Davis has over three decades of experience in public lands policy and conservation, most recently serving as the Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior for the Biden Administration. In roles in the nonprofit sector and at the Interior Department, Laura has focused on the conservation and restoration of America’s public lands, including the designation of national monuments, meeting clean energy and climate goals on public lands and waters, and strengthening the government-to-government relationship with America’s Native Tribes.
Prior to her most recent appointment at the Department of the Interior, Laura was the Chief of Policy and Advocacy at the National Wildlife Federation. She led the Interior Department appointments team for the Biden-Harris transition team. At Interior during the Obama Administration, Laura served as Chief of Staff to Secretaries Ken Salazar and Sally Jewell, and before that as Deputy Chief of Staff and as Associate Deputy Secretary.
Laura also served in the Interior Department during the Clinton Administration in a variety of roles, as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary, Associate Director of Congressional and Legislative Affairs, and Director of Scheduling and Advance. From 2007 to 2009, Laura was the Deputy Chief of Staff to then U.S. Representative Mark Udall.
Laura graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University and lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband and daughter.
