About Åsa Björklund

Åsa Björklund (pronounced “Osa,” pronouns she/her) is CLF’s Director of Development and Engagement. She has spent most of her professional life in the world of philanthropy both nationally and internationally. Prior to joining CLF, she worked to raise funds and awareness in support of land conservation in Colorado and in Arizona.

Before moving to the US, Åsa lived in Guatemala, Central America, where she worked with Human Rights at the international aid branches of the European Union and the United Nations. Later she branched into a field that remains close to her heart—nature and community conservation—by helping Guatemala’s largest environmental organization, Defensores de la Naturaleza, expand support in the US. She has also worked as a photo journalist, reporting from a variety of countries.

Åsa has a law degree specializing in human rights and a B.A. in journalism centered on communication for nonprofits. In her time off, she loves hiking, mountain biking, skiing, reading, and stalking pets, particularly dogs and horses, as she is currently without an animal in her life. She lives in Durango, Colorado, with her husband and daughter.

Director of Development and Engagement

“All lands are ancestral lands. I live and work in Durango, Colorado, the unceded ancestral lands of the Diné Bikéyah, Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute) and Pueblos peoples. I hope this land acknowledgment inspires others to stand in solidarity with Native nations.”
