The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) new management plan directs how it will steward nearly 400,000 acres of public lands in northwestern California for the next 20 years or more.

The public lands that are covered by the plan stretch from the North Coast to the Central Valley and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and include isolated redwood groves, oak woodlands, rivers and streams, and are home to bald eagles, marbled murrelets, western snowy plovers, salmon and steelhead, elk, and sandhill cranes.

This new plan increases climate resiliency of the landscape, addresses wildfire threats in some of the state’s most prized forest lands and waterways, listens to Tribal and local voices, and reflects Northwest California’s tradition of conservation.
