Urge President Biden to Designate the Kw'tsán National Monument
Please sign the petition to urge President Biden to designate Kw’tsán National Monument in California.
Join the Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Tribe in calling on President Joe Biden to use his authority under the Antiquities Act to designate over 390,00 acres of public lands in the California Desert, known as the Kw’tsán National Monument. A national monument designation would honor the traditional homelands of the Quechan People and protect sacred cultural sites, wildlife habitat, biodiversity in the region, and critical wildlife corridors. The monument would include important areas such as Indian Pass Wilderness, Chocolate Mule Mountains, and Picacho Peak Wilderness. Designation and management of these lands should follow the guidance and honor the legacy of the people who have stewarded these lands since time immemorial.

President Biden,
I support the effort by the Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Tribe to designate the Kw’tsán National Monument, and stand behind them in calling on President Biden to use his authority under the Antiquities Act to designate Kw’tsán National Monument in the California Desert to:
-
Honor the traditional homelands and protect the sacred sites, places and landscapes of the Quechan People;
-
Protect biodiversity, wildlife habitat, and critical wildlife corridors;
-
Preserve important historic sites important to American culture.
These lands are the traditional homelands of the Quechan People; designation and management of these lands should follow the guidance and honor the legacy of the people who have stewarded these lands since time immemorial.
