About Me

Kara (she/her) joined the Conservation Lands Foundation in 2022 as the Policy Director. Hailing originally from the Washington, DC area, Kara's love for nature was nurtured along the Potomac River's Billy Goat Trail and through experiential environmental education programs in Sanibel, Florida.

Her love of the outdoors and wildlife led her to pursue an undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary environmental science and a master's degree in environmental and natural resource policy from Stanford University.

Prior to Conservation Lands Foundation, she worked on public lands, wildlife, climate, coastal, and equitable access issues at The Wilderness Society, the National Audubon Society, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Department of the Interior. Most recently, her work focused on enhancing the National Wildlife Refuge System.

She is also a member of Next 100 Colorado and serves on the board of Environmental Learning for Kids, working to promote equity in the outdoors.

In her free time, Kara enjoys baking, aerial silks, figure skating, hiking, skiing, and mountain biking in the Denver metro area.
