Dear Friends,

Looking back at 2021, I’m filled with gratitude about the impact our work has had on the protection of America’s public lands. Among all our success stories in 2021, October 8th clearly stands out. It was a day of celebration as President Biden signed Antiquities Act proclamations restoring protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments.

Our staff joined a celebratory event within the Bears Ears monument, and I was honored to be invited to Washington, D.C. to attend the signing ceremony. This day marked the culmination of an historic battle to protect America’s National Conservation Lands–fought in collaboration with Indigenous communities and our partners who never gave up.

2021 also marked the highest total grant amount we’ve awarded to our Friends Grassroots Network to support their unrelenting commitment to each of the valuable and vulnerable places that need protection.

We’re building on these successes to accelerate our priority place-based campaigns throughout the West in 2022 and beyond. Thank you for making the accomplishments highlighted in this annual report possible. This work is never easy, but with your partnership and confidence in our mission and vision, we are poised to achieve the protection of millions of more acres of public lands.
